Thanks to Henry Ford, kids didn’t have to walk 10 miles to school anymore. While Ford gave them a push-start, Detroit turned the ignition giving automobiles brilliance and style. The 1950s produced cars like the Studebaker, Chrysler New Yorker, Hudson, Packard, and even Kaiser-Frazer.

Car manufacturers brought features to the industry that made GM, the Chrysler Corporation, and Ford stiff competitors. General Motors awed us with colorful cars trimmed in chrome. They were attractive vehicles, and the public could hardly wait to get behind the driver’s seat and put the pedal to the metal.

In 1953, Chrysler made all of its cars brand new. They improved components such as the chassis frame, rear axle, the drivetrain and door handle that pull-out. Changes like these made the Chrysler New Yorker convertible the plushest model of the year. It’s one of Chrysler’s upper-class vintage cars now. Many owners showcase the classic car in some of the most exciting and elite car shows each year.
